Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Review

ash-and-co.originalI decided to watch the remake of the orignial First Pokemon Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back. Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution. I wasn’t sure what to expect of this movie, but it looked like it was gonna be pretty good.

Boy was i wrong, other than the fact that it had some nice enhanced 3D CGI graphics. It was a terrible remake.

For starters, the story was going significantly faster than the original, which resulted in missing some significant scenes throughout the movie and due to the fact that their was so fast. It had no emotional investment in the movie, which made it such a great movie. While the overall message may have been a bit converluded,  it still had a good story behind it. Either they had a lower budget or spent all their money on the fancy 3D CGI effects they used.

When you get to that scene where the clones are fighting the orignals and their that emotion sound along with Brother My Brother by Blessed Unions Of Souls (such a classic song by the way). It had so much emotion and depth, but this new adpatation had no emotional investment what so ever. While i may had felt a slight bit of emotion, during this scene, it couldn’t compare to the heartbreak i felt as a kid when i watch this scene for the first time, in the orignal.

I feel like Pokemon has always been on the ball when it comes to emotional Pokemon movies, i.e. the first three movies (esepcially). But this new version fails in comparison to that.

I had to watch the orignal movie, after watching this, partically to remember all the scenes they missed out and also to recover from the terrible movie that this was.

Hate to give this such a bad review, but it really did suck. I’m giving it 2/10
